2010 Toyota Prius Hybrid Overview and Wallpapers

The third generation Toyota Prius is now available. Although early reports once indicated that the new hybrid drive would offer lithium-ion batteries,("We will change the battery from nickel hydride to the lithium battery," CEO Katsuaki Watanabe told Business Week last year.) the 2010 Prius continues to use a NiMH battery pack.
However, the new NiMH battery pack has been improved (eventually, however, the 3rd gen Prius could utilize a lithium battery pack).
Interior space has increased considerably, both by making the car larger and making the cabin design more efficient. The car is 0.4 inches longer and 2.2 inches wider. The battery cooling unit also takes up less space, providing more room for passengers. Rear legroom is further improved thanks to thinner front seats.
Dynamic Radar Cruise Control system is now an available option. The system also enables Lane Keep Assist, which helps the driver stay safely within the lane, and the Pre-Collision System, which retracts seat belts and applies the brakes in certain conditions when a crash is unavoidable.
A larger and more powerful 1.8-liter Atkinson-cycle, four-cylinder engine will produce 98 horsepower at 5,200 rpm in the new Prius. Together with its electric motor the hybrid system in the new Prius will generate a combined net horsepower of 134, an improvement of 24 horsepower over the previous generation.

The 1.8-liter Prius engine is the first Toyota power plant that requires no belts under the hood for better fuel economy and less potential maintenance.
